My first 26 weeks of Tri Training culminated in the MingoMan Olympic Distance Triathlon in Delaware Ohio. Leading up to this event – I began swimming for distance for the first time in my life (although I was trained in Water Survival & Rescue at the USAFA), I ran again after not doing so for nearly 10 years due to Hip surgery, & I continued my Cycling training. Needless to say I was both nervous & excited – but I survived my first Open Water Swim, nailed the Bike, & actually ran more than I ever thought. 6 months ago I thought I was going to Die swimming 2 pool laps, walked most of my 5K, but loved the Bike! Positive Self Talk, enjoying the journey, & a ton of preparation enables your mind to convince your Body to do almost anything. That’s how I survived & that’s how I will continue to train for my next event in 3 weeks!
